Video Games and Schools may not seem like a logical grouping but here at Replay Events we see things differently. In the same way that we merit the cultural importance of gaming, we also believe it is important to educate young people in the history of video gaming and how the UK has been pivotal in shaping the global video games market.

NESTA, the National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts has recently produced a report which talks about creating a "talent pipeline" that begins in schools, through Higher Education then onto training and professional development. The report encourages the use of videogames in the classroom to engage students across the entire curriculum.

We believe we should be going one step further than this, by giving young people proper industry standard tools and skills, giving them direct access to professionals from the industry and giving them a true sense of history through hardware and software interaction. Our aim is to celebrate British creative talent wherever possible.

Recently, Replay Events worked with Brinsworth Comprehensive School Academy Trust on their award winning ‘Games Britannia’ event. The five day event gave students an opportunity to explore the cultural impact of gaming, gain expert knowledge, industry insights and access to talent from the videogame community. Replay Events have been asked by Rotherham LEA to assist in the planning and delivery of next year’s ‘Games Britannia’ which will be a 7 day event open to participants from almost 150 schools.

We can assist you in any aspect of your educational display; we can provide machines, games and artwork for your exhibit or even provide a full setup supported by knowledgeable technicians who will be on hand throughout your event. We have staff who are able to travel to almost anywhere within the UK and they all hold up-to-date CRB disclosures. All of our equipment is fully PAT tested, RoHS compliant and is regularly cleaned and serviced. Your safety and peace of mind is our priority.

If you prefer to setup your own event we can have equipment couriered to any UK address or you are welcome to collect from our offices in Blackpool. If you are local we may be able to deliver for a small fee. See our Dry Hire page for more information on having kit delivered.

Visit our stock inventory page for details of all the equipment we currently hold. We encourage you to design your own packages to suit your needs, however we understand this can be a bit daunting so we also have some example packages which we can tailor to your requirement.

EXAMPLES

Games Britannia: Schools Videogames Festival – 27 June - 1 July 2011, Brinsworth Comprehensive, Rotherham

Replay Events contributed a Retro Zone to the award winning Games Britannia festival – an inspirational week of workshops, lectures and gaming zones that aims to inspire, educate and entertain the next generation of creative British videogame talent.

The Retro Zone was exceptionally popular, with a range of computers and consoles from 1977 to 2001. The Retro Zone gave students a perspective on the development and evolution of hardware, but also demonstrated to them the power of game-play over graphics with many enjoying a lot of the older titles on display.

From Pong to Pro-Evo: Gaming Across the Ages – 16th April - 2nd May 2011, Museum of Science and Industry (MOSI)

Replay Events provided an Easter Retro Games exhibition for MOSI at the Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester: ‘From Pong to Pro-Evo: Gaming Across the Ages’.

We provided a wide selection of exhibits that allowed visitors to test their gaming skills on everything from an X-Box or PS3 to an Atari 2600 or Sinclair ZX Spectrum.
